If They Had Known Documentary Screenings
If They Had Known
If They Had Known is a documentary film that shares the story of Clay Soper’s tragic, accidental death from mixing prescription drugs with alcohol. Clay Soper “was 19 (almost 20) – a thriving college student – home for the summer. While at a party, he and his friends mixed Xanax with alcohol and the combination caused Clay’s respiratory system and heart to stop. No one saw it coming – no one thought Clay was in any danger that night. They had no idea that combining prescription drugs with alcohol could kill them or their friend.”
In the spring of 2018, students from Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School were able to view the documentary in a classroom setting with a follow-up discussion led by student leaders. Students were able to reflect upon current party culture, risks of combining substances, the responsibility of people to act, as well as making sure people are making healthy, safe decisions. In the fall of 2018, Bridging LIVES then partnered with Bridgewater State University and Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District to host the Soper Family at the showing of If They Had Known on the university’s campus.
